History of computer speaker
Computers were initially equipped with onboard speakers integrated into their chassis, designed to generate various tones and beeps. In 1981, IBM introduced its first internal computer speaker, which could play basic and not very good quality sounds.
As the era takes a step toward the modern, the onboard speakers evolve and move into the monitor of computer with its updates, such as now they have ability to generate voices, music, and other sound effects like that.
When Computer gaming, social media, and digitality became popular then manufacturers began to upgrade external speakers to produce high-quality sounds with an improvement of the bass.
In 1991 Abinawan Puracchidas invented the first external speaker which is still a superior type of speaker for computers that are widely used.
How do speakers work
The speakers are manufactured with an iron coil, a cone, a magnet, and a housing case to cover all these components.
When speakers receive electricity from a device, it sends a current through them, making them move back and forth. This movement vibrates the outer cone, creating sound waves that your ears detect.
Rating a speaker
We can rate a speaker by these three things.
- Frequency response (FR): The rate of measurement of the Highs and Lows of the sound made by the speaker is known as frequency response.
- Total harmonic distortion (THD): The rate of distortion produced by amplifying the signal is known as Total harmonic distortion.
- Watts: The rate of the amount of amplification available for speakers is known as its watts.
Why do we need speakers?
We need speakers usually in our daily lives, such as we need speakers to listen sound of games, movies, and messages, and even we can’t make calls without them. Speakers are an essential part of phones, laptops, computers, etc.
